If you enjoyed our smash hit "The Graduate" in the 2011 season, you're going to fall in love with Neil Simon's audience favorite "Barefoot in the Park." Set in the early 60's, newlyweds Paul and Corie Bratter, he a staid lawyer and she a free spirit, comically cope with the demands of home ownership and the struggles of marital bliss. Running for 1,530 performances on Broadway after opening in 1964, it stands as Simon's longest play and remains a timeless Valentine to the ups and downs of young love. Syracuse theatre favorite Sara Weiler stars as Corie Brater.

Insanity. Execution. Murder. 6 days after the Civil War ended Major Rathbone and his fiance Clara Harris attended the Ford's Theater production of "Our American Cousin" with President Lincoln and his wife Mary Todd Lincoln. During a climax of laughter from the audience at the comedy onstage, J.W. Booth slipped undetected into the presidential box and fired a nickel-sized bullet into Lincoln's skull. Rathbone grappled with Booth briefly, receiving potentially fatal slashes from Booth's knife across his forearm. Clara's screamed for someone to stop the assassin as he jumped to the stage below, her white gown becoming soaked with blood. Simultaneously, Booth's accomplice Lewis Paine walks into the bedroom of Secretary of State William Seward's bedroom and slashes him across the face and throat before disappearing into the night. Across town in her boarding house, Mary Surratt sits unaware that she will soon be executed with 3 others for allowing the conspirators to meet and devise the plot under her own roof.
Lincoln enthusiasts as well as patrons who have previously enjoyed Covey's "Lizzie Borden Took an Axe" and "The Romanovs" will certainly find interest in this exciting world premiere: the tragic results of spilling Lincoln's blood.
Starring SALT award winner Jodie Baum as Mary Todd Lincoln.
